MELVIN, Iowa -- Karen Louise Ackerman-Timmons, 68, of Melvin, Iowa, and Kerkhoven, died Tuesday at the St. Cloud Hospital. She was undergoing medical treatment and died of complications.

The service will be at 10:30 a.m. today at American Lutheran Church in Melvin. Burial will be in Union Cemetery in Harris, Iowa.

Arrangements are by Jurrens Funeral Homes of Sibley, Iowa.

She was born Oct. 11, 1940, in Ocheyedan, Iowa, to Hartley "Hi" and Alice Louise (Immens) Jurgensen. She grew up and attended the Harris Community Schools.

She married Stanley Ackerman on Sept. 26, 1959. They lived in Kerkhoven where she worked a short time at Jennie-O Foods in Willmar and helped her husband farm. In 1960, they moved to Kansas City, Mo., and then back to the Harris and Ocheyedan area. They moved to moved to Bakersfield, Calif., in 1982 and moved to Melvin, Iowa, in 1992. Stanley died in May 2001.

She married Marvin J. Timmons on Dec. 23, 2004, in Sioux Falls, S.D. They maintained two residences, one in Kerkhoven and the other in Melvin.

She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Melvin.

She is survived by her husband of Kerkhoven; two daughters: Becky (and David) Heitritter of Melvin and Brenda Cammann of Melvin; three sons: Todd (and Sue) Ackerman of Ocheyedan, Troy (and Jackie) Ackerman of Sheldon, Iowa, and Stan (and Aggie) Ackerman of Hatfield; three stepdaughters: Jean (and Chuck) Rustad of Kerkhoven, Barb Larson of Bakersfield, Calif., and Linda (and Terry) McKinzie of Plymouth; two stepsons: John (and Jorene) Timmons and David (and Sue) Timmons, both of Kerkhoven; 12 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; 16 stepgrandchildren; four stepgreat-grandchildren; and a brother: Gary (and Karen) Jurgensen of Round Lake.

She was preceded in death by her first husband; a son-in-law: Barry Cammann; a grandson; and one brother.
