Karine G. Rose March 1, 1925 - Aug. 19, 2009
NEW LONDON -- Karine Gladys Rose, 84, of New London, died Wednesday at GlenOaks Care Center in New London.
The service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Peace Lutheran Church in New London. Burial will be at Lebanon Cemetery in New London.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday at Johnson Funeral Home in New London, and for one hour prior to the service Saturday at the church.
She was born March 1, 1925, in Colfax Township to Oliver and Mildred (Johnson) Larson. She attended Districts 10 and 67 elementary schools and graduated from New London High School in 1942. During World War II, she traveled to Seattle where she assisted in the war effort by helping assemble Boeing B-29 bombers.
On Dec. 9, 1944, she married Franklin Rose in New London. She lived the rest of her life in New London. For 36 years, she drove school bus and worked as an aide for Peterson Bus Service and New London-Spicer Schools.
She was a member of Peace Lutheran Church and regularly served in the kitchen, and a former member of Lebanon Lutheran Church, where she sang in the choir and served as the choir director.
She is survived by her children: Linda (and Nathan) Houfek of Omaha, Neb., and Kenneth Rose of Willmar; seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and a brother: Clifford Larson of New London.
She was preceded in death by her husband and one sister who died in infancy.
