RENVILLE - Kathrine Ann Brettin, age 65, of Renville, died Sunday, April 7, 2013, at Rice Memorial Hospital in Willmar. Funeral services will be held on Friday, April 12, 2013, at 10:30 a.m. at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Renville. The Rev. Joel Luetke will officiate. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery in Renville. Visitation will be held on Thursday evening from 5-7 p.m. in the Dirks-Blem Funeral Home in Renville. Visitation continues on Friday one hour prior to the services at the church in Renville.

Kathrine Ann Brettin was born on August 16, 1947, in Marshall, Minnesota to Otto and Norma (Gladitsch) Rakke. She was baptized at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Vesta, Minnesota and later confirmed at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Renville. Kathy graduated from Renville High School. She worked for 27 years at Maynard’s Food Center in Renville, retiring in 2010. She loved getting together with her children and spouses, grandchildren and great grandchildren, and her siblings and their families. Kathy loved the simple things in life-going for rides in the country, fishing, and sitting outside in her lawn chair. She also loved playing Bingo. She was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Renville.

Survivors include her husband Jerry, her children: Kimberly Ruether of Montevideo, Rick Minnick of Bird Island, and Teresa (and Chris) Netland of New London; her grandchildren: Melissa (and Rick) Schroeder of Montevideo, Brandon Rorvig of Montevideo, Cody Ruether of Montevideo, Nathaniel Netland of New London, and Ava Netland of New London; her great grandson Camden Schroeder of Montevideo. She is also survived by her siblings: Elaine (and Jim) Tompt of Shakopee, Barb (and Dean) Buesing of Granite Falls, Deb (and Tim) Agre of Maple Plain, and Bruce Rakke (and special friend Ann Bruns) of Redwood Falls; and many nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, her two brothers Richard and Edmund, and her sister Audrey Seikoro.
