Kathryn S. Lura Sept. 2, 1921 - April 4, 2009
PAYNESVILLE -- Kathryn Signora Lura, 87, of Paynesville died April 4 at Koronis Manor in Paynesville.
The service will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Paynesville Lutheran Church. Burial will be at Ft. Snelling Cemetery in Minneapolis.
Visitation will be for one hour prior to the service at the church.
She was born Sept. 2, 1921, in rural Lake Mills, Iowa, to Sever and Eliza Hovland. She graduated from Lake Mills High School in 1939 and continued her education at St. Olaf College and Cedar Falls Normal School. She taught in a one-room school in rural Winnebago County, Iowa, prior to taking a secretarial job in Kansas City, Mo. She later taught 6th grade at Rake Elementary School in Rake, Iowa.
She married DeLoss Lura on Oct. 24, 1943, in Kansas City, Mo. She served as librarian for the Paynesville City Library and later for the Paynesville Branch of the Great River Regional Library System before retiring in 1994.
She is survived by her sons: Douglas (and Kathy) and Paul (and Carol), all of Paynesville; two grandchildren and three great-grandsons.
She was preceded in death by her husband, five brothers and three sisters.
