Kenneth Nelson Sept. 22, 1933 - Jan. 24, 2009
ST. PAUL -- Kenneth Allan Nelson, 75, of St. Paul, died Sunday in Ham Lake.
The service will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Trinity Lutheran Church in Stillwater. Burial will be at 2 p.m. Feb. 7 at Ness Lutheran Church cemetery in Litchfield.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at Bradshaw Celebration of Life Center in Stillwater and for one hour prior to the service at the church.
He was born Sept. 22, 1933, in Gennessee Township, rural Atwater, to Ralph and Edna (Olson) Nelson. He graduated from Atwater High School in 1951. He worked on the family farm after high school and, in 1953, he worked for Honeywell and went to night school at the University of Minnesota. He attended Northwestern TV and Electronics school in 1956.
He married Charleyne Urdahl on Sept. 23, 1956, in Litchfield. He joined the Marine Corps in 1957 and served until 1959. He then worked for Northwest Airlines for a year. He joined 3M in Hutchinson in 1962 and was transferred to St. Paul in 1966 where he worked until he retired in 1995.
He is survived by children: Mark (and Donna) Nelson of Stillwater, Rebecca (and David) Urban of Ham Lake, Brenda (and John) Unise of Stillwater and Daniel Nelson of Stillwater; eight grandchildren; brothers: Vernon Nelson of Atwater and Ron (and Diane) Nelson of Spicer.
He was preceded in death by his wife in 2003.
