WILLMAR - Kenneth Randt, age 79, of Willmar died on Monday, November 11, 2013 at his home. Funeral service will be on 11:00 am on Thursday at First Reformed Church in Willmar. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery in Willmar. Visitation will be from 5-8pm on Wednesday at Harvey Anderson Funeral Home in Willmar and will continue one hour prior to the service at the church on Thursday. www.hafh.org
Kenneth Randt was born on December 11, 1933 in Renville County, Minnesota, the son of Eilert and Anne (Fischer) Randt. He grew up in the Raymond area where attended Sunnyside Country School. Kenneth entered the United States Army in December of 1956 where he served his country stationed in Germany. He received an Honorable Discharge in December of 1958. He was united in marriage to Joyce Plowman on February 3, 1961 in Willmar. The couple lived in Raymond and in 1962 moved to rural Willmar. Kenneth worked as a carpenter and welder for Thorstad Construction and later Pederson Construction. He then became self-employed retiring in 1994.
He was baptized and confirmed at Bethany Reformed Church in Clara City and was currently a member of First Reformed Church in Willmar. He served as Treasurer for the Willmar Township Board and was a member of the Carpenters Union.
Kenneth enjoyed wood working, and wood carving. He welded sculptures and was very handy. He loved his family especially spending time with his grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife Joyce Randt of Willmar, children: Dean (and Chris) Randt of Mora, Kelly (and John) Chester of Willmar, Jodi (and Dale) Krueger of West Fargo, Steven (and Michelle) Randt of Cosmos; eleven grandchildren: Amanda, Abby and Kenny Randt, Zach, Tom and Kaylee Chester, Blake and Brady Krueger, Emily, Nicki and Madisyn Randt brothers: John Randt of Alexandria, George (and Alice) Randt of Clara City, Wally Randt of Howard Lake, Jimmy (and Virginia) Randt of Mesa, AZ, Dale (and Margaret) Randt of Villard, and Lee (and Elaine) Randt of Litchfield, Sister-in-law Ruth of Glencoe and several nieces nephews and other relatives.
Kenneth was preceded in death by his parents, and four brothers: Harry, Bernard, Fred and Harm.
