Kidnapping incident under investigation

NEW LONDON -- Authorities are investigating an alleged kidnapping that took place Saturday afternoon in northern Kandiyohi County.

The victim, a 40-year-old woman from New London, was reportedly taken from her apartment but managed to escape from the vehicle. The suspect, 34, fled on foot after his vehicle went into a ditch east of Belgrade.

The Kandiyohi County Sheriff's Department and Minnesota State Patrol are continuing their investigation.
