According to a news release from Stearns County Sheriff John Sanner, Joseph Nickolas Salzbrun was found in a 2004 Ford Ranger in the north ditch of County Road 142 about 1½ miles east of 207th Street. Two citizens attempted first aid and rescue workers attempted to revive Salzbrun, but their efforts were unsuccessful and he was pronounced dead at the scene.

The vehicle was apparently traveling northeast on County Road 142 when the driver lost control, entered the ditch and struck a tree. Salzbrun was not wearing a seat belt.

The Ramsey County Medical Examiner will conduct an autopsy and the Stearns County Sheriff's office is investigating the crash.
