Kimball seeks DFL endorsement for Dille's senate seat
COKATO -- Hal Kimball, 38, of Cokato announced this week he'll seek the DFL endorsement for Senate District 18.
The seat is currently held by Sen. Steve Dille, R-Dassel, who is retiring after 24 years in the Legislature
Kimball, a U.S. Army veteran, ran against Dille in 2006 in the Republican-leaning district.
On his blog he calls himself a "blue man in a red district."
Four Republicans, Dean Mahlstedt of Cokato, Tim Benoit of Dassel, Randy Wilson of Glencoe and Scott Newman of Hutchinson have indicated their intention to seek their party's endorsement for the seat.
In a press release, Kimball said he plans to carry on Dille's legacy of dedicated service.
"What we do now matters and there's no time to waste in owning up to the challenges confronting us." he said.
He said maintaining Minnesota's higher educational network is crucial for the state to be a leader and not a follower.
Kimball, who served in the U.S. Army for 11 years and then graduated from St. Cloud State University, now works for Comcast.
Kimball and his wife, Dori, live in Cokato.
