Kuhn, Flores get hits in NWL North One's loss in showcase game

MADISON, Wis. — Max Kuhn and Marc Flores each had hits for the Northwoods League North Team One in the North’s 9-4 loss to the NWL South Team One in the Big League Dreams Showcase on Monday at Warner Park.

The Showcase teams, consisting of top players from around the Northwoods League, were selected by a panel of Major League Baseball scouts.

Kuhn was 1-for-2 with a second-inning single, and a walk and run scored in the fourth.

Flores singled in the first and was 1-for-5.

The Stingers’ hurlers didn’t fare as well. Josh Matheson, Nick Bates and Cody Hughes each pitched an inning, and Hughes and Bates both allowed two runs while Matheson allowed one.

Michael Suchy was 0-for-2, and pitchers Colin Poche and Bret Dahlson didn’t make it into the game.

The Stingers will resume Sunday’s game today at Green Bay. It was suspended due to rain tied 8-8 in the ninth inning Sunday night. They will play their regularly scheduled game at 7:05 p.m.

Willmar is 9-11 in the second half in the NWL North Division and 32-23 overall.
