The Lady Warriors improved to 7-0 in the division and 17-2 overall after upending the second-place Cyclones (4-2, 10-4).

"A lot of the kids played against each other at the high school level and both teams came out firing right away," said Ridgewater coach Joe Sussenguth of a close first game. "We made a lot of service and hitting errors and didn't play really any defense. But we settled down a bit and slowed down their offense. We built a 7- or 8-0 lead right away in the second game and that set the momentum for the remainder of the match."

Hannah Smith paced Ridgewater with 15 kills and Kelsey Stommes added 10 more. Molly Hurrle had 38 assists in setting the table for the offense.

Smith and Aimee Johnson each served four aces while Johnson led the team with 14 digs.

Ridgewater is at Fergus Falls on Wednesday before playing at St. Cloud next Monday.
