Lady Warriors thump Central Lakes

BRAINERD -- Just when it's time for the holiday breather, coach Carrie Ogdahl has found the switch to light up her Ridgewater College Lady Warriors.

The Lady Warriors played a dazzling second half to upset Central Lakes College 76-61 on Saturday.

"We need the break but you just hope the girls don't forget that they've shown what they can do," quipped the head coach.

All five starters hit in double figures in a four-guard offense with 5-9 Britney Glisczinski underneath.

Up by one at half, 40-39, the Lady Warriors surged 36-22 to win by 15 to counter a nine-point loss at Willmar seven days before.

Sophomore guard Tara Thielke played her most complete game of the non-conference campaign. The former Hancock star produced 20 points, nine rebounds, five steals, four assists and two blocked shots.

Danielle Goeman followed with 16 points, Patina Queenan and Glisczinski with 11 apiece and Chelsea Voorhees with 10.

"Defensively we really got after it," said Ogdahl. "We had two or three girls going after a rebound. We haven't had that before."

The rebound edge was 43-26. The Raiders (6-3) made eight 3-pointers, three by Brittney Miller. Steph Neugebauer led with 18 points.

The Lady Warriors (5-7) play Riverland at Austin on Jan. 7 to start the MCAC schedule.
