According to the Renville County Sheriff’s Office, Francis Huebsch, 53, was driving a 2000 Ford F-150 pickup westbound on 840th Avenue and attempted to pass a 2001 Freightliner semi and trailer, driven by Mario Castillo, 63, of Bird Island. The semi had slowed in the roadway and was attempting to make a left turn. Huebsch’s pickup struck the front of the semi and then rolled into the ditch. Huebsch was ejected from his vehicle as the pickup rolled.

Also responding were the Olivia police, ambulance and fire departments, Bird Island fire and medical response unit and North Air Care.

The crash remains under investigation by the Sheriff’s Office and the State Patrol-Commercial Vehicle Section.
