Larry D. Myers March 22, 1952 - Sept. 18, 2013

MONTORSE - Larry D. Myers, 61, of Montrose, died Sunday, August 18, 2013 at his home. His funeral service will be 11:00 am, Monday, August 26th at First Lutheran Church of Norway Lake, rural New London. Burial will be in St. John’s Lutheran Cemetery in Raymond. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Arrangements are with Harvey Anderson Funeral Home in Willmar.

Larry Donavan Myers was born on March 22, 1952, in Willmar, Minnesota, the son of LeRoy and Ardelle (Freeberg) Myers. The family lived in various communities while Larry was growing up and before he graduated from Howard Lake High School in 1970. He continued his education at Willmar Vo-Tech, receiving training in auto mechanics. Throughout his life, Larry worked for various car dealerships, between here and Minneapolis, mostly Ford dealerships. He most recently was working for Morrie’s Minnetonka Ford Mercury in Minnetonka.

He was baptized at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Raymond and confirmed at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Winsted.

He was a "handy man" always able to fix anything, especially Ford’s. Whether he was watching old westerns or riding his own show jumping horse, Larry always had a fascination with horses. He also liked speed, whether with his motorcycle or a car, the faster the better. His pride and joy was an early 70’s Ford LTD that he ccompleted restored after getting it from a junkyard.

Surviving are his siblings, Lowell Myers of New London; Kathryn Myers of Eagan; Keith Myers of Casa Grande, AZ; and niece, Tamara Forcier of Fontana, CA.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two infant brothers and sister, Lynn Lamp.
