Larry Krause March 1, 1938 - Jan. 15, 2009

ECHO -- Larry Lloyd Krause, 70, of rural Echo, died Thursday in Mesa, Ariz.

The service will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Peace Evangelical Lutheran Church in Echo with burial in the Vesta Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. today at Sunset Funeral Home in Echo with a prayer service at 6:30 p.m. and for one hour prior to service at the church

He was born March 1, 1938, on a farm in Vesta Township, Redwood County, to Floyd and Ella (Mueller) Krause. He grew up in Vesta Township and attended country school and Echo High School, graduating in 1956.

He married June Luepke on March 2, 1957, in Echo. They lived west of Vesta for three years before moving to their farm in Sioux Agency Township, Yellow Medicine County. He farmed, worked on road construction, did corn shelling for Gerhald Luepke eventually buying the business and running it for 20 years. He drove school bus for 20 years. They spent the past 12 winters in Mesa, Ariz.

He was a member of Peace Lutheran Church where he served on the council and in the Echo Lions Club. He was also a supervisor on the Sioux Agency Township Board for several years and played old-time and country western music with his band the Happy Wanderers.

He is survived by his wife; four children: Jody (and Denny) Isaackson of Cottonwood, Mitch (and Holly) Krause of Vesta, Sandy (and Tom) Rebstock of Franklin and Tim Krause (and special friend Robert Dell) of Portland, Ore.; 10 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by one sister.
