Latino Affairs Council community forum is Sept. 27
WILLMAR -- The Chicano Latino Affairs Council will hold a community forum on economic development and education from 4 to 7 p.m. Sept. 27 at the Oaks on Eagle Creek in Willmar.
The council is an agency that advises state government on issues related to Latinos.
It also listens to and conveys to Minnesota's government the voice of the Latino community.
Organizers say one of the objectives of the forum is to learn about the ideas, projects and needs of the Latino community in Willmar and surrounding areas.
Based on this engagement, the council can add Willmar's Latino perspective on critical issues to those of other communities in the state for the purpose of making policy recommendations and conveying the priorities of every community to the Legislature and governor.
Presenters will be Hector Garcia, council executive director; and Astrid Ollerenshaw, council community relations manager.
Hosts will be Roberto Valdez, program coordinator of the Willmar Area Multicultural Business Center; Idalia "Charly'' Leuze, executive director of the West Central Integration Collaborative; and Francisco J. Morales, council member.
All welcome to attend. The meeting will be conducted in both English and Spanish.
For more information, call Ollerenshaw at 1-888-234-1291 or email at firstname.lastname@example.org.
