NEW LONDON -- Laura Helene Hille, 106, of New London, died Sunday at the GlenOaks Care Center in New London.
The service will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Peace Lutheran Church in New London. Burial will be at Oak Hill Cemetery in New London.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the Johnson Funeral Home in New London and for one hour prior to the service at the church.
She was born Sept. 15, 1902, in rural Paynesville, to Iver and Gurianna (Sunde) Lorentzen. She grew up on the family farm on the west end of Lake Koronis and attended country grade school in the area.
She married Soren Hille on Nov. 1, 1934. They lived on a farm on the east end of Green Lake. In 1947, they built a home north of the Old Mill Inn in Spicer where she lived until 2006 when she moved to the GlenOaks apartments. She recently moved to GlenOaks Care Center. She was a homemaker and a member of Peace Lutheran Church where she was active in the women's organizations and Christian service day. She was the organist at Trinity Lutheran Church before the merger of churches and a member of Sons of Norway in Willmar.
She is survived by her children: Larry (and Meredith) Hille of Fridley and Elizabeth "Toots" (and Jim) Van De Riet of Spicer; five grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband in 1987, three brothers and six sisters.
