Laura Mork Aug. 1, 1910 - Aug. 4, 2008
DAWSON -- Laura Elise Mork, 98, of Dawson, died Monday, at the Johnson Memorial Hospital in Dawson.
The services will be at 1:30 p.m. at Our Saviour's Lutheran Church of Baxter in rural Dawson. Interment will be in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be one hour prior to the services at the church.
Anderson Funeral Home in Montevideo is handling arrangements.
She was born Aug. 1, 1910 in Lac qui Parle Village to Jacob and Suzanne Velleckson. She attended school in Lac qui Parle Village. She worked at Anderson's Clothing and Jeb's Café in Montevideo.
She married Arthur Mork on Oct. 17, 1953. They lived on his home farm in Hamlin Township before moving to Montevideo in 1965. They also lived in Dawson and, for more than 30 years, they spent winters in Riverside, Calif. She moved into Johnson Memorial Home in Dawson several months ago.
She was a member of Our Saviour's Lutheran Church of Baxter. She was active in the Gudbrandsdalenslaget, Sognelag and the Lac qui Parle County Historical Society.
She is survived by a nephew, Oren Velleckson of Montevideo and three nieces: Karen (and Tom) Wicke of Windom, Carol (and Dale) Tilden of New Brighton, and Diane (and Jim) Mauch of Hankinson, N.D.
She was preceded in death by her husband in 2007, three brothers and two sisters.
