MONTEVIDEO -- Laurene Hayes Halverson, 93, of Plano, Texas, formerly of Montevideo, died Monday in Plano.
The service will be at 1 p.m. Monday at the Vestre Sogn Chapel, rural Sacred Heart. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be one hour prior to the service Monday at the chapel. Arrangements are by Wing-Bain Funeral Home in Montevideo.
She was born April 1, 1915, in Montevideo to Winfield and Gertrude (Flaten) Hayes. She attended school in Montevideo and attended the Minnesota School of Business. She worked for Northern States Power Company in Montevideo.
She married Ward Halverson, and they lived in the Montevideo area. They retired to McAllen, Texas, for seven years and later moved to Alamo, Texas.
She was active in Eastern Star as a past Worthy Matron and lifetime member. She helped organize a Job's Daughter Chapter in Montevideo. She was an active member of the Methodist Church in Montevideo and later of the Donna Methodist Church in South Texas.
She is survived by her children: Susan Grifno of Plano, Texas, David (and Kay) Halverson of Centennial, Colo., and Lynn (and David) Anderson of Lake Oswego, Ore.; six grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband on July 6, 1994; son-in-law: John Grifno; one granddaughter; and one sister.
