LITCHFIELD -- Lawrence John Gilman, 87, of Minneapolis, died Tuesday at his home.
The service will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Gertrude's Catholic Church in Forest City. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery in Litchfield. The Litchfield Military Honor Guard will provide honors.
Visitation will be for one hour prior to the service at the church.
He was born on Jan. 8, 1922 in Forest City to Charles and Gertrude (Miller) Gilman. He grew up and received his education in the Litchfield area, graduating from Litchfield High School. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II in the Ardennes, Rhineland and Central Europe. He was a member of the VFW and American Legion. He worked for a concrete block manufacturer and lived in St. Louis Park and Minneapolis for the past 37 years.
He is survived by his daughter: Diane Williams of Minneapolis, a sister: Dorothy Pennertz of Litchfield, three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his life partner: Ramona Pepin; one brother; three sisters; and a grandson.
