ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP) -- Lawyers for victims of the Minneapolis bridge collapse say there will be an announcement at noon today, signaling a possible settlement.

Lawyers for two firms representing victims and survivors of those killed in the August 2007 accident independently told The Associated Press they couldn't comment ahead of time. But the lawyers said an announcement was forthcoming.

A news advisory from the Robins, Kaplan, Miller & Ciresi firm called the noon news conference "the most significant legal news in the firm's history." Phil Sieff, a lawyer at the firm, wouldn't say more. Neither would Jim Schwebel, whose firm represents other victims.

More than 100 people are suing state contractor URS Corp., which was studying the Interstate 35W bridge at the time it fell into the Mississippi River. The rush-hour collapse killed 13 people and injured 145.

Lawsuits have been winding their way through the courts. A hearing that had been planned for last Wednesday was canceled.
