Trey Ausvold, Ryan Vraa, Ike Goetzman and Michael Arnold all had two hits for NLS, which advances to play a winners’ bracket game against Osakis at 7:45 p.m. Thursday in Montevideo.

BOLD plays an elimination game against Madison at 5:15 p.m. Thursday in Montevideo.

Madison fell to Osakis 4-2 in Tuesday’s other first-round game.

BOLD led by a run heading into the fourth inning but NLS scored four runs to take a 6-3 lead. But that edge was anything but safe.

BOLD countered with three runs in the fifth to tie the game, and after NLS put two more runs across in the sixth, BOLD again knotted the game with two in its half to make it 8-8.

Arnold triple and doubled and Austvold had a triple among his two hits. Goetman also had a double, as did Wyatt White.

BOLD’s Lane Stadther was 3-for-4 with a double and Riley Kramer and Joel Erickson both had two hits.

Jarrett Hatlestad worked the final 2.1 innings to get the win while Ben Steffel took the loss in relief.

Osakis 4, Madison 2

Ky Zimmel drove in the go-ahead runs in the fifth inning and he backed himself up will on the mound to lead Osakis to a win over Madison in a American Legion Division II, Section 7 Final Four game on Tuesday.

Zimmel pitched six innings, allowing two earned runs and striking out 11. He drove in two runs in Osakis’ three-run fifth.

Jordan Frederick worked the seventh, striking out two, to get the save. Drew Fearing was 3-for-3 with two triples and two runs scored.

Madison’s Garrett Olson took a tough loss, allowing three runs in six innings and was victimized by missed defensive plays that would have gotten Madison out of innings unscathed.

Dylan Lillejord doubled and drove in both Madison runs.

Madison, now 14-4, plays BOLD at 5:15 p.m. Thursday in a Final Four elimination game in Montevideo.
