Legion Baseball: NLS outlasts Willmar 3-1

WILLMAR -- Two runs in the first inning was enough for Tanner Thunstedt as New London-Spicer toppled Willmar 3-1 Monday at Bill Taunton Stadium.

Ryan Vraa drew a walk against losing pitcher Patrick Courtney to open the game before being erased on the base path on a fielder's choice hit by Steven Ammerman. Nick Bergeson followed with a single and then moved to second on Tanner Tobkin's walk.

Ammerman and Bergeson then scored on Jordan Payne's single.

Courtney then faced just one batter over minimum from the second to the fifth before Vraa reached on an error to lead off the sixth and scored on another Willmar error.

Thunstedt gave up four hits to four different batters and struck out two while walking just one.

Bryce Enstad singled to lead off the Willmar seventh and scored on Aaron Weidemann's sacrifice fly.

Willmar (7-8) is at Montevideo on Wednesday for a 7 p.m. game.
