TRACY — Dylan Johnson tossed a complete game with 10 strikeouts and no walks and singled twice at the plate to help Granite Falls topple Tracy 5-1 in the opening round of the Division II, District 7 South playoffs Monday.

Granite Falls, the No. 9 seed, now plays top-seeded BOLD today at 7 p.m.

Austin Vikander doubled and singled twice to ignite Granite Falls’ nine-hit attack. Getting two hits along with Johnson were Nick Richter and Joe Sannerud with both players also knocking in a run.

Morris (8-5) invoked the 10-run rule by scoring three runs without getting an out in the fifth inning. The win advanced the No. 5 seed to today’s second round where they will play at No. 4 New London-Spicer at 7 p.m.

Morris scored three runs in four innings and was paced offensively by Bryce Jergenson’s two doubles, a triple and three RBI. Jergenson also scored three times and Riley Biesterfeld added a triple and two singles that resulted in two RBI.

Brady Jergenson worked all five innings on the mound to earn the win, striking out seven and scattering four hits without giving up an earned run or a walk.

Glenwood 4, Tri-Town 2

Riley Thompson scattered six hits and seven strikeouts in a complete-game performance to help propel No. 6 Glenwood in its playoff opener. Glenwood plays today at 6:30 p.m. in Evansville against No. 3 Brandon-Evansville in the second round.

Glenwood scored single runs in the first three frames with Matt Paulson — who was 3-for-3 — delivering the eventual winning hit with an RBI double in the third. Andrew Kinney broke a 1-1 tie with an RBI single in the second and pinch-hitter Garrett Keeling scored on an error in the sixth to cap the Glenwood scoring.

Six different players notched a hit for Tri-Town. Cullen Hoffman and Derek Dengerud scored the Black Sox’s runs.

Wheaton 10, Kerkhoven 9

Kerkhoven (3-11) batted 14 in the sixth inning and produced seven hits and took advantage of two Wheaton errors to score nine runs and tie the game, but the No. 8 seed stranded two runners when the inning ended. Wheaton then pulled ahead in the top half of the seventh on Brayden Campe’s one-out RBI single.

Rylan Hatlestad and Fred Mansfield had two hits and an RBI each for Kerkhoven. Caleb Collins added a double and two RBI and Kyle Baker also drove in two runs.
