SPICER — Ryan Vraa hit a two-run home run in the fifth inning and Lucas Nordmeyer and Willmar’s Josh Warne engaged in a good, old-fashioned pitching duel on Monday night at Green Lake Diamonds.

Vraa’s blast to left, which also drove in Nordmeyer, decided New London-Spicer’s 2-1 win.

Nordmeyer worked seven innings, allowing a run on six hits while striking out three.

Warne took the tough loss. He pitched six innings, allowing two runs on five hits. He didn’t walk a batter and struck out eight.

NLS plays next in the Bird Island tournament, opening against West St. Paul at 8 p.m. Friday.

Arthur Forrest homered and Fairfax upended Tri Town 8-1.

Tri Town’s lone run came on a Colton Minnick RBI double to score Cullen Hoffmann.

Nick Peterson worked all seven innings and took the loss.

Mason Clark hit a three-run homer and pitched seven strong innings to lead Hector over Litchfield.

Ben Maiers was 2-for-3 with an RBI and Tate Lange had a hit and an RBI for Hector.

Eddie Estrada homered for Litchfield and Braeden Wahl drove in 2 runs.

Hector improved to 2-0 and plays at Granite Falls today.

Tyler Daugherty’s one-out single to center brought home Tanner Stoel with the winning run for Prinsburg Central in the bottom of the seventh inning on Monday.

After winner Austin Bulthuis struck out two in the top of the seventh, Tanner Stoel walked, Grant Hoekstra singled, T. J. Stoel laid down a bunt single and Daugherty followed with his game-winning hit.

The Orioles, now 1-0, play at Atwater at 5:30 p.m. today.

Jordan Thompson was solid on the mound, allowing just a run on four hits while striking out seven in the win on Monday in Sacred Heart.

The Morris Legion team has picked up where its prep team left off, scoring eight runs in the fourth and fifth innings to down Hancock in five innings on Monday.

Tyler Henrichs was 4-for-4 with two doubles, three runs batted in and scored three runs. He also got the win on the mound, allowing just one earned run on three hits while striking out six.

Morris, now 2-0, plays next at Glenwood at 6:30 p.m. Monday.
