Legion Baseball Roundup: Willmar nips Litchfield, 2-1
LITCHFIELD -- In a game in which four pitchers combined for 30 strikeouts, Willmar emerged with a 2-1 Legion baseball victory over Litchfield on Monday night.
Willmar scored lone runs in each of the first two innings to grab a 2-0 lead. In the first inning, Austin Adamson reached on a walk, advanced on Andrew Bangen's single and scored on a balk by Litchifeld starter Brady Smith.
In the second inning, Derrick Loiselle walked and moved to third on Tyler Brower's double and scored on Adamson's two- out single.
John Sawatzky worked the first six innings for the win. He allowed four hits and one run, while walking three and striking out 11. Jake Rambow earned the save with three hitless innings of relief. He struck out four.
Litchfield scored its lone run in the bottom of the fourth when Eric Hulterstrum led off by drawing a walk, stole second and scored on Smith's single.
Smith pitched six innings for Litchfield, allowing five hits and both Willmar runs, while walking two and fanning 11. David Yordi gave up one hit over three scoreless innings of relief. He walked none and struck out four.
Willmar is at Alexandria today.

Kyle Athmann hit a long drive with two outs in the bottom half of the seventh inning to knock in Tate Neubauer with the winning run as BOLD won its opener.
Athmann also struck out four in two scoreless innings of relief to pick up the win.
Andrew Clancy gave New London-Spicer (1-1) a 4-1 lead in the fourth by hitting a solo home run. BOLD tied the game in the bottom half of the frame by scoring three runs.
Austin Cuka had two hits for NLS, which scored just one earned run.
