Legion Baseball: Warne, Willmar blank BOLD
BIRD ISLAND — Josh Warne allowed just a first-inning single and Willmar banged out 11 hits to defeat BOLD 11-0 on Thursday.
Warne allowed Lane Stadther’s single, walked one and struck out one in the five-inning game. Willmar scored five runs in the first inning and bumped the lead to 8-0 with three more in the second inning.
Brandon Christenson had a triple among his two hits and drove in four runs and Tony McLeary was 3-for-4 and drove in two runs.
Tyler Stegeman was 2-for-4 and Cole Christenson was 2-for-3.
Carter Sack and Evan VanDenEinde also had hits for Willmar, which improved to 13-5 overall.
Willmar plays Saturday at 7 p.m. on Baker Field against Willmar Electric, a team out of Lincoln, Neb., that is coached by David Chapin, a for Willmar resident. Chapin works for Willmar Electric Service out of its Lincoln, Neb., office. WES helped in the designing and construction of the remodeled Baker Field 10 years ago and is a corporate sponsor for Chapin’s team.
BOLD, now 9-3, plays at Litchfield at 10 a.m. Saturday.
