Legion Baseball: Willmar blanks Montevideo

WILLMAR — Adam Nibaur scattered three hits and Tyler Stegeman had four hits and drove in four runs as the Willmar Legion defeated Montevideo 10-0 in five innings on Tuesday at the Swansson Orange Field.

Stegeman drove in Willmar’s first run in the third inning and, after stealing third, scored on Carter Sack’s single to stake Willmar to a 2-0 lead.

That was plenty for Nibaur, who didn’t issue a walk and struck out two.

Willmar feasted on Montevideo’s relievers after starter Spencer Hildahl left after three innings, scoring three runs in the fourth and five more in the fifth to end the game.

Stegeman had two doubles and Josh Tinklenberg, Brandon Christenson, Cole Christenson and Evan Van Den Einde also drove in runs.

Ricky Schmitz, Hildahl and Tristan Weber collected Montevideo’s hits.

Willmar plays next at BOLD on Thursday.
