Leo A. Hesse

April 26, 1935 - June 4, 2009

KERKHOVEN -- Leo Andrew Hesse, 74, of Kerkhoven died Thursday at his home.

The service will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Murdock.

Visitation will be from 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday at the church. Harvey Anderson Funeral Home in Kerkhoven is handling arrangements.

He was born April 26, 1935, in Eagle Creek Township, Scott County, to Peter and Anna (Derhaag) Hesse. He attended St. John's School and graduated from Jordan High School in 1953. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and was discharged in 1964. He returned to the Prior Lake area where he farmed.

He married Margaret Stans on April 29, 1977, in Watertown, S.D. He later attended Willmar Vo-Tech for agriculture. He lived in Richfield and Wendel, before moving to Kerkhoven in 1982. He worked at Kerkhoven Ford Tractor Equipment and Don and Vern's Ford and Mills Ford, both in Willmar.

He is survived by his wife; children: James Hesse of Prior Lake, JoAnn Hesse of Hamel, John (and Michelle) Hesse of Prior Lake, Joseph Hesse of Long Prairie and Gene (and Jen) Hesse of Foley; four grandchildren; siblings: MaryAnn Deutsch of Shakopee, Richard Hesse of Elko and Joan Glisczinski of Belle Plaine.

He was preceded in death by his son: Joseph Hesse; and one brother.
