Leona M. Mix Jan. 16, 1935 - March 15, 2009
DAWSON -- Leona Mae Mix, 74, of Dawson, died Sunday at Rice Memorial Hospital in Willmar.
The service will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Grace Lutheran Church in Dawson. Burial will be Thursday at Fort Snelling National Cemetery in Minneapolis.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. today at the Hanson and Dahl Funeral Home in Dawson with a closing prayer service at 7 p.m.
She was born Jan. 16, 1935, in Baxter Township, rural Boyd, to Helen Fosse. She lived her entire life in the Dawson and Boyd areas, graduating from Boyd High School in 1952.
She married Lawrence Mix on Dec. 30, 1952, in Dawson. She was a nurse's assistant at the Johnson Memorial Home in Dawson for more than 30 years.
She is survived by her children: Eugene Mix of Langley Air Force Base, Va., Murla (and Benny) Parrow of Dawson, Melvin Mix (and fiancé Darcy Peterson) of Montevideo and Michael (and Eva) Mix of Dawson; seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her son: Richard in 1954; her husband in 1999; daughter-in-law: Dawn Mix; and one granddaughter.
