GLENWOOD -- Leonard Ernest Chan, 90, of Glenwood, died Tuesday at Glenwood Retirement Village.
The service will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Church of the Sacred Heart in Glenwood. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery in Glenwood.
Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday at the Hoplin-Hitchcock Funeral Home of Glenwood with parish prayers at 4:30 p.m. and the rosary at 6:30 p.m. and for one hour before the service at the church.
He was born Feb. 14, 1919, in Reno Township, Pope County, to Wencil and Mary (Kalina) Chan. He grew up on a farm on Lake Reno in Reno Township.
He married Betty Mae Star on April 17, 1944, in Reno. They lived on the Chan family farm for 69 years. He belonged to the Reno Catholic Church and served on the Reno Township Council.
They retired and moved to Glenwood in 1988.
He is survived by his wife; sons: James (and Beverly) Chan of Manhattan, Kan., Thomas (and Paulette) Chan of Wilton, Maine, and Randy (and Lucyann) Chan of Hopkins; and 10 grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
