OLIVIA -- LeRoy Herbert "Bud" Baker, 91, of Olivia, died Saturday at the Golden Living Center in Olivia.

The service will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Zion Evangelical Lutheran in Olivia. Burial will be in Morton City Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at Dirks-Blem Funeral Home in Olivia and one hour prior to the service at the church.

He was born Nov. 14, 1917, in Wells to William and Cora (Youngs) Baker. He was raised by his foster family near Waterville where he attended school. He then lived in California where he worked in construction and later for the Civilian Conservation Corps for several years.

He moved to Renville. On June 8, 1941, he married Lena Wagner in Bird Island. They lived north of Olivia and then moved to Morton. During World War II, he lived in Washington where he worked in construction. Upon returning to Morton, he was a custodian at the Morton School. In 1960, they moved to Olivia where he worked at the Renville County Courthouse, retiring in 1981.

He was a member of Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church in Olivia.

He is survived by his wife, his three children: Larry (and Eileen) Baker of Manhattan, Mont., Gary (and Joyce) Baker of Moose Pass, Alaska, and Bonnie (and Ron) Dobmeier of Alexandria; four grandchildren; a stepgranddaughter; five great-grandchildren; and two stepgreat-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by three brothers and one sister.
