WILLMAR -- Leroy A. Jasmer, 85, of Willmar died Friday at Bethesda Pleasantview in Willmar.

The service will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Vinje Lutheran Church in Willmar. Burial will be Wednesday at Fort Snelling National Cemetery in Minneapolis.

Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Arrangements are with the Harvey Anderson Funeral Home in Willmar.

He was born Oct. 20, 1921, in Valley City, N.D., to Paul and Clara (Peterson) Jasmer. He lived in Valley City, N.D., and later moved to Roosevelt, where he graduated from high school in 1940. He served in the United States Army Air Corps during World War II until 1946.

He married Naomi Sorlien on Oct. 3, 1947, in Osage, Iowa. He graduated from Bemidji State College in 1949 with an English degree and in 1959 he earned a master's degree from the University of North Dakota. They lived in Danube where he taught. They moved in 1952 to Willmar where he was an English teacher at Willmar junior and senior high schools, retiring in 1984.

He had served on the Willmar City Council and was a member of American Federation of Teachers, Minnesota Airstream Caravan Club and was active with Neighborhood Watch. He was a member of Vinje Lutheran Church in Willmar.

He is survived by his wife; son: Paul Jasmer of Collegeville; daughters: Joann (and Jeffery) Parker of Minneapolis, Sally (and Fred) Lajon of Maple Grove, Gail (and Thomas) Meister of St. Croix Falls, Wis., Amy (and Patrick) Flanders of Paynesville; 10 grandchildren; one great-grandson; and one brother: Morton (and Sally) Jasmer of Roosevelt.
