SPICER - Leslie J. Olson age 70 of Spicer, died on Wednesday, October 23, 2013, at his home. His memorial service will be at 11:00 am on Monday, October 28, 2013, at Redeemer Lutheran Church in Willmar. Burial will be at a later date. A visitation will be held for one hour prior to the service at the church. Arrangements are entrusted to Harvey Anderson Funeral Home. www.hafh.org

Leslie Joseph Olson was born in Litchfield, MN, on August 3, 1943, the son of Joseph and Evaline (Mohr) Olson. He grew up on a farm Southwest of Atwater and attended a small country school near his home. After the 8th grade he went on to attend Willmar High School. When he was 16 the family moved to Willmar where Les worked for various farmers until he began work at Rodelius Ford in the auto body department. He later opened his own shop on First Street in Willmar. Les also was a carpenter and belonged to the Carpenters Union Local out of Minneapolis. He retired in 1982, after a serious motorcycle accident.

Being a lover of the outdoors Les loved to fish with his buddies. He enjoyed bear and deer hunting but wasnt disappointed if he didnt bag his prey.

Les married his wife, Jean in 1990. They lived in Willmar until 2008, when they moved to rural Spicer. Les loved spending time with his family and friends, and was especially fond of being with his step grandchildren. He would show them tricks, play games with them and he loved to tease them.

Leslie Joseph Olson died on Wednesday, October 23, 2013, at his home in rural Spicer. He is survived by his wife, Jean; son, Darrin (Denise) of Forreston; daughter, Veronica of Willmar; step children, Lonny (Jenn) of Stafford, VA, Kevin of East Bethel, Troy (Randy) of Minneapolis, Douglas (Missy) of Pennock, Bradley (Kristi) of Roseville, and Chad of DePere, WI; 25 step grandchildren; six great grandchildren; and his brother, David (Jan) of New London. He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Elaine.
