Lester Ogdahl Feb. 15, 1919 - Sept. 28, 2009
GLENWOOD -- Lester Woodrow Ogdahl, 90, of Glenwood died Monday at Glacial Ridge Hospital in Glenwood.
The service will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Glenwood Lutheran Church. Inurnment will be in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be for one hour prior to the service at the church. Arrangements are with Hoplin-Hitchcock Funeral Home of Glenwood.
He was born Feb. 15, 1919, in Pope County to Anton and Theolina (Dalager) Ogdahl. He grew up on a farm south of Glenwood and in rural Hanska where he attended school.
He married Eleanor Lee on June 21, 1941, in Iowa. He enlisted in the Army Air Corps in 1942 and served in the Asiatic-Pacific Theater. Following his honorable discharge in 1945, they lived in Glenwood. He owned and operated Ogdahl Construction Company and Builder's Lumber in Glenwood. He was a member of the Glenwood Jaycee's, VFW, American Legion, and Lions Club, where he recently celebrated 50 years of perfect attendance. He called bingo for the VFW, was active with Waterama and Boy Scouts and helped organize the local Easter egg hunt.
He is survived by his wife; children: Jerry (and Mary Jean) Ogdahl of Eden Prairie, Bob (and Karen) Ogdahl of Baxter, Lesley (and Mark) Hoplin of Glenwood and Tom (and Tammy) Ogdahl of Marshall; 10 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; siblings: Norma Johnson of Madelia, Abner, Clifford (and Millie) and Julian (and Dolly), all of Glenwood.
He was preceded in death by his an infant son: Leslie Ogdahl; and two sisters.
