Let’s Go Fishing readies for 13th year
WILLMAR — Governor Mark Dayton and the legions of anglers who will open the 2014 fishing season this weekend aren’t the only the ones eager to get back on the water.
Let’s Go Fishing is preparing to launch its 13th year in coming weeks. More than 2,200 volunteers dedicate their time and energy to enrich the lives of individuals through fishing and boating excursions.
To date, 30 volunteer-driven chapters in Minnesota and one in Wisconsin offer the programming while also promoting natural resources, according to information from the organization.
Since its inception in 2002, Let’s Go Fishing has provided fishing experiences to roughly 108,000 senior citizens, youth, veterans and the disabled — often nursing-home-bound ex-fishermen and fisherwomen who have otherwise scant hope of ever again putting a line into the water.
Let’s Go Fishing is a nonprofit organization.
