Letter: Abraham didn't tell a lie

Email

This is a somewhat different subject than most you publish but I have as a Christian always been troubled by the statement that Abraham lied when he said Sarah was his sister. This past Sunday I heard a well-known television church service that made the statement.

Genesis 20:11-12: "And Abraham said, 'Because I thought, surely the fear of God is not in this place, and they will slay me for my wife's sake.

"'And yet indeed she is my sister; she is the daughter of my father, but not the daughter of my mother; and she became my wife.'"

To say Abraham lied is in error. Yet I have found any Christian I talk to about this has no idea the verses saying she is his sister are true.

Did you know you don't have to have TV to get Christian television? It's available on the computer. Inspirational, Angel 1 and 2, TBN, EWTN, and Son's Life, I think it's called, is a new one at www.jsm.org.
