Letter: Citizens, get off your duffs

Email

I just got done looking at the wctrib.com Web site opinion page and there were 27 comments plus my own in response to my letter, "Are you doing your civic duty?" My question to all of you who wrote comments: How many of you actually took the time to contact your elected representatives? There are numerous items to bring to their attention: record unemployment, health care reform, the phony elections in Iran, the list goes on and on.

I've sent at least three e-mails to my elected representatives since I wrote my letter to the editor. How many have you written? Have you called your representative? Sent them a fax? Again, I repeat the number for the U.S. Capitol switchboard is 202-224-3121. On the Internet it's congress.org. To some of you who may be wondering, no, I never had a DWI. Don't just sit there and gripe, get off your duffs and do your civic duty!
