Letter: A commitment to baseball
It is nice to see all of the acknowledgements of the success of the tournament at the nice city-owned ball facilities. It should be noted that the games are played on Baker Diamond, not in a stadium. People sit in the stadium; ball players play on Baker Field, aptly named after Orville Baker, the former dedicated, hard-working park foreman of many years.
Credit should also be given to the hard work and commitment of Jim Anderson, Wayne Hayunga, Ron Gilbertson and Orville Baker and others who in the 1970s and 1980s worked so hard to provide excellent ball diamonds at Baker and Swansson Field for the use of everyone, not just select teams. To all those former park employees and former engineering staff, we owe a big thank you.
