In the race for House of Representatives in Kandiyohi County District 13B, there are two pro-life, pro-Second Amendment candidates. Al Juhnke barely received the endorsements from both the MCCL and NRA, and Bruce Vogel also received "A" ratings from both groups. The difference here is who the candidates associate with.
Al Juhnke proudly supports and endorses Mark Dayton for governor, a man who received an "F" rating from both the MCCL and NRA. When it comes to the MCCL and pro-life issues, the MCCL says, "Mark Dayton opposes the protection of unborn babies and supports abortion on demand. Mark Dayton opposes a ban on taxpayer funded abortions. Mark Dayton voted against the Partial-Birth Abortion Ban Act twice as a U.S. Senator. Mark Dayton is endorsed by Planned Parenthood, NARAL and other pro-abortion extremist groups." On his "F" rating from the NRA, they call Dayton a "true enemy of gun owners' rights. A consistent anti-gun candidate who always opposes gun owners' rights and/or actively leads anti-gun legislative efforts, or sponsors anti-gun legislation."
This isn't the first time Al has supported his liberal friends running for public office, and it won't be the last, unless voters fire Al Juhnke this November. Who you associate with says a lot about a person. And the fact is that these endorsements normally favor incumbents, due solely to the fact that they have a voting record. But this unfair system cannot hide the fact that merely "voting" on an issue does not mean you champion the cause. In this case, it means Al is trying to re-elected, and will vote however he thinks he has the best chance at that, regardless of his personal feelings.
We need to elect the real common-sense, pro-life, pro-Second Amendment candidate in this race who will do more than just vote to protect these issues; he will fight to bring forward legislation that champions these causes. That candidate is Bruce Vogel, and unlike our current legislator, he won't be a disappointment to the citizens of Kandiyohi County. Vote for Vogel Nov. 2.
