Letter: District 17 need a good team
The new legislative District 17 (Kandiyohi, Renville, Chippewa and Swift counties) has the opportunity on Nov. 6 to elect an experienced and energetic team to represent them in St. Paul.
The team is headed up by Sen. Lyle Koenen who has more than nine years of experience in the House of Representatives before he was elected in April to finish the term of my husband Gary Kubly. A former dairy farmer and now truck driver, Lyle has an amazing grasp of the issues facing rural Minnesota. Many people have heard Gary describe Lyle as a work horse rather than a show horse. Lyle works hard to get things done in St. Paul and brings a wealth of experience in agricultural and veterans issues.
District 17A (Swift, Chippewa, Renville and lower Kandiyohi counties) is fortunate to have another experienced legislator in Rep. Andrew Falk, who is completing his second term in the Minnesota House of Representatives. A farmer and wind energy developer, Andrew brings youth, energy and experience to the district. Andrew can see the issues facing our younger residents who return to the area to work and begin raising families and he has the foundation as a fifth generation farmer to know what needs to be done. We need his passion to keep rural Minnesota strong.
Mary Sawatzky completes this team as a candidate for state representative in District 17B (most of Kandiyohi county). Mary wears many hats as a teacher, community volunteer, wife and mother. She too comes with the passion needed to get things done in St. Paul. Her energy during a long campaign season has allowed her to knock on thousands of doors getting acquainted with the people of the district. She's ready to work to avoid gridlock and get results in St. Paul.
Our area needs good jobs, quality education and health care, safe roads and a team working for all of us. That team is Lyle Koenen, Andrew Falk and Mary Sawatzky. Please give them your vote on Nov. 6.
