Letter: A fix for the major leagues
Did I hear right?
According to a recent article, major league baseball is planning to expand their playoffs again, starting next year. They want to add more wild-card teams. Those teams will play for the right to advance to the divisional series.
This would mean that either the playoffs will continue farther into cold weather season, or the regular season will begin earlier in March, while we are still coming out of winter.
Why don't we do this instead: adopt a system similar to that of amateur softball. Have all the teams qualify, then set up double elimination brackets. The teams that win their brackets will then meet in the World Series. Just imagine, the team with the world record could end up winning it all.
