Letter: Give credit where it’s due
The great tribute I have been given as I prepare to leave Safe Avenues is appreciated, but I wish to acknowledge the direct service staff team and community supporters who have worked tirelessly and with great passion to make Safe Avenues what it is today. A tremendous difference has been made in the lives of countless individuals as a result of this dedicated team.
It has been an honor to serve alongside them and a strong board of directors that has consistently provided a firm foundation for the agency. I’m also grateful for the community members that invested in Safe Avenues and its mission; those who provided donations, supplies, services, prayers and more. The lifesaving work of Safe Avenues would not be possible without such support.
I also want to give credit to my husband, who for the past 20 years has supported me in my education, career and role. He also gave of his own time, talents and resources to aid in the work of Safe Avenues.
Safe Avenues is in a position to continue to provide safety, support and empowerment to victims of abuse and families in turmoil, especially with the dedicated team that exists and the community of supporters that are invested in its mission. I am excited to watch how the organization will continue to grow and make a positive difference in our community.
