Letter: A grand memorial event

Everyone in our community was invited to join the residents of Copperleaf for their Memorial Day ball, grand march and dance on May 22 to honor our war veterans. If you didn't join us, you missed out on a memorial afternoon of entertainment.

A large amount of guests came to honor our own veterans and to visit with us and enjoy the collection of antique cars in the parking lot and listen to the toe-tapping music of an appreciated, talented accordion-playing guest and watch our old-timers who couldn't resist the chance to select a willing partner and dance.

The rest of us found pleasure in listening to the music and remembering the old songs played for us that we used to dance to in the "good old days" when we were able to.

The memorial program presented to honor our veterans was the afternoon's main event and well attended and appreciated. It was climaxed by an outdoor lunch with a band playing and singing for all the people to enjoy.

We are grateful and owe our thank-you to the owners of Copperleaf who spent the day with us and his staff who worked hard to give us this afternoon of pleasure and make it such a success. Our thanks also to everyone who came and helped make it one to remember.
