Letter: Memories of Dr. Hodapp
Recently, Willmar lost a good friend and leader: Dr. Robert V. Hodapp. He served as Willmar's mayor for one term in the 1960s. I don't know what he did back then, but anybody who can be a doctor and a mayor at the same time deserves a lot of credit. Had he run for office a few years ago I most certainly would have voted for him.
As a pediatrician, Dr. Hodapp had a mannerism that should be copied by other doctors. I don't recall ever feeling intimidated by him. The only thing I have against him is that the older I got, the smaller his examining table became. Seriously, the medical world has lost a good role model. We could use more doctors like him.
