I have two daughters going to Willmar Senior High School and was very disappointed that they did not get to see President Obama's message to students Tuesday. While Willmar schools chose not to show the speech, 75 percent of students in Minnesota saw it that day with another 12 percent seeing it the next day.
After listening to it myself I felt the president reiterated every value I thought that the Willmar schools had... hard work, dedication to studies, responsibility for their own futures, and a desire for further education. It felt like he supported the school's efforts.
What happened? If they thought it was "a political statement," I think that the Willmar Schools made one that day. And I am angry that my daughters had to miss a really great moment.
