Letter: The Obamacare train wreck
It has recently come to light that President Obama is wanting to delay implementing the employer mandate that employers with over 50 employers must provide health insurance by 2014, but will now start in 2015.
Why is this being done? It takes about two seconds to figure out that if this were to happen before the 2014 mid-term elections, the voters will really see what they are in for, and then a lot of the liberal Democrats that voted for this monstrosity will be kicked out of office as they should be. Even Sen. Max Baucus (D-Mont.), who was one of the key architects of Obamacare, has publicly stated, “I just see a huge train wreck coming down.” Does this mean that President Obama can pick and choose which laws he wants to obey and which ones he wishes to thumb his nose at? If that’s the case, why have any laws at all?
Also coming down the road is the mandate for individuals, which will hit low-income families the most with high insurance premiums. When healthy young people figure out that it’s cheaper to pay the fine/tax than buy the expensive insurance, this will greatly add to the burden on the taxpayers in the funding for Obamacare.
Another problem looming for Obamacare is the “honor system” that will be used to provide a subsidy for low-income people. This has a great potential for fraud and abuse, where people will get the subsidy without proving income and then not buy the insurance. Much like the food stamp program!
This whole Obamacare legislation kind of reminds me of the song by Johnny Cash, “I Can See The Train A-coming.” Only it should be “I Can See The Train Wreck A-coming.”
In my opinion Obamacare is a bigger Ponzi scheme than Bernie Madoff or Social Security.
