The West Central Tribune recently endorsed Collin Peterson for U.S. Congress in the 7th District. This is no surprise, the Tribune tends to lean to the left.
However, what I find unacceptable is the flawed reasoning that led them to pick Peterson as their preferred candidate. They correctly stated that agriculture is important to western Minnesota, but they incorrectly stated that Collin Peterson is good for farmers.
What a farce. He voted for cap and trade, the most anti-farming piece of legislation ever dreamt up. According to sugar beet industry leaders, cap and trade would destroy Minnesota agriculture. Even if you aren't a farmer, the resulting energy prices would raise the price of all goods, regardless of their connection to agriculture.
We can't afford career politicians like Collin Peterson who betray rural Minnesota. The West Central Tribune should know better.
