Letter: Praise for Willmar mayor, council protecting tax dollars
I have read the letters being submitted to the Tribune concerning our mayor and certain council members. My brother is mayor of Redwood Falls and I have watched him and his council be watchdogs of the public treasury and still find ways to provide needed services to the less fortunate in their community.
I applaud Mayor Yanish and his council for attempting to find the line drawn between their responsibilities to the taxpaying public and the services which should be supplied by that same public.
Willmar is not a cheap place to live tax wise but is a great place for my wife and me in our retirement years. I was in business for over 40 years and at one time owned a store in Willmar. The taxes were much higher on our property here than those in Redwood and Olivia.
I felt the need to let our mayor and his loyal council members know that there are many of us who appreciate their courage and concern for the taxpaying public.
