Letter: Real reform for health care
I'm totally covered by a private supplement and Medicare and I want you to have what I have.
If the government's health care reform doesn't include coverage at least as good as Medicare for everyone, it isn't real reform. People should be able to choose between what they (and I) have now and some new system that covers everyone and emphasizes prevention and regular checkups.
In order for this to work for everyone, we need to tax those of us that can pay a bit more to supplement or cover those who don't have the money to pay. We can't allow the current system to continue and we need to come together to support the best universal single payer we can afford. Don't be fooled by the opponents who own stock in drug and/or insurance companies. Health care: because it is the right thing to do!
